I will do it now before the umbrella is done for the winter to have a nice surprise come next spring. Thing is, if you want fringe then overkill it. No less than 6″ long is my plan.
I remember the old umbrellas when I was a kid, they all were fringed and scalloped, just beautiful. Today? Boring!! The umbrellas are so high now that a 6′ fringe will be way more noticeable and elegant and you won’t walk into it. But who cares about that anyway.
