Creepy Halloween Wreath Tutorial

I don’t like creepy halloween, I don’t like scary halloween either. So why did I make these creepy halloween wreaths? I only made this Creepy Halloween Wreath Tutorial because I had a vision when I stumbled into the craft store. Ugh, I can hardly stand looking at these with all the bones and skulls. I won’t be hanging these in my house. Maybe you want some more halloween ideas that aren’t like mine? We have a group of bloggers at the bottom of this post that have come together to give a lot of great halloween ideas.

Creepy Halloween Wreath Tutorial

Let’s get started with how to make your Halloween creepy and scary.

  1. I started with a grapevine wreath base as I find them really easy to work with and often don’t need much hot glue for the stems.
  2. Cheesecloth or gauze in white or black depending on you look. I made one wreath with white and one with black cheesecloth for my background. To apply I just draped it over the grapevine wreath and let the twigs hold it all in place.
  3. Gather up some creepy stuff like bones, and skulls. This time of year it’s so easy to find these or use amazon for next day delivery instead of going out and buying too much stuff.

4. Pick up some faux flowers in black. Here I attached small skulls with commercial hot glue for extra creepiness.

5. Plastic eyeballs and spiders also add a level of scary to your wreath.

6. My favorite or maybe not so favorite part is this big bug and large skull. Ugh so creepy. I secured them with lots of hot glue.

7. Black or Glow in the dark bats are a great addition. These little grey bats are glow in the dark and found here for a Creepy Halloween Wreath

8. On this black creepy halloween wreath with the bony hands are the part that scare me the most. Ugh it’s like a dead person kinda thing and I don’t like that.

9. The black twigs can be added for more drama. I am sure you can come up with some creepy cool ideas but this will get you started.

Halloween out spends Christmas now.

Can you believe that halloween earns more money on decor that Christmas? My favorite part of halloween is the candy and passing it out to kids because I know they love counting their loot.

That’s so funny, Rhonda. I’m TOTALLY with you on the anti-creepy Halloween. My favorite are happy pumpkins, Charlie Brown Halloween type decorations. If there are ghosts, they must be Casper-esque…not scary. And absolutely no blood or gore. I’m like the most G-rated Halloween decorator ever. #solame but whatever 😉 Regardless, I think your wreath turned out super cute, despite a little bit of creep 🙂

I’ve never been into the “creepy” Halloween style. Love fall decorating but you won’t find skulls or ghosts at my house. So I’m in the weirdo club too 😂
