How to Decorate a Small Entryway

Want to know a little secret? Our entryway has never looked the same for longer than a week, well maybe more like a month. I can’t help it—I LOVE decorating. I want to share with you How to Decorate a Small Entryway with a touch of farmhouse charm.

To be honest, when we first moved into this old farmhouse, I was kind of confused about what to do with the space. We decided to go with white wainscoting, see more info about it in our Easy DIY Shiplap Wall Tutorial post. The entry flows right into the kitchen, so I needed a way to give it a separate entry feel. While still allowing the two spaces to work together well. After much deliberating, looking for inspiration on Pinterest, and shopping ’til I dropped. {Man, it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it! ???? } I finally put together a little entry way space that I absolutely LOVED.

I love the contrast of black painted hooks. I found these in a brown rustic metal but felt I wanted a bit more of a classic style. Finished them off and spray painted them black. I also had to spray the screws to match. There’s an affiliate link to some hooks here, because I know how hard it is to find really nice ones.

As with most projects around here, it all starts with paint.

We used basic white paint from Benjamin Moore for both the entry walls. I used the color Swiss Coffee for the wainscoting. I wanted to give a fresh look to the entry. We left the door unpainted because I love the farmhouse charm it adds.

After we had the paint colors down, it was time to figure out how to fill the space. Most everything I used to decorate can be found in our shop Hallstrom Home. Stay updated with Hallstrom Home and more by joining our email list at the end of post.

This space may be small, but I love that some simple pieces were able to bring in a lot of function. The bench is the perfect place to sit to slip shoes on and off, and the hooks create a nice little drop zone, while helping to maintain some semblance of order.
